A fantastic and very well attended community forum organized by our Seniors Club took place on Wednesday August 16th! Thank you to all who attended and packed the hall, especially our panelists MPP Hon. Ted McMeekin, Ajay Kaushik (Affordable Housing Project Manager/Developer), Lucy Marco (President, Grand River Council on Aging) and moderator Lin Fines (Human Resources Professional and Past CFUW President). The social and discussion forum allowed for an extremely informative discussion around a range of issues relating to affordable housing, poverty reduction and retirement security.
A fantastic crowd packed the Duke on Park for our August 5th breakfast social! Thank you to all who attended in making our 30th consecutive monthly breakfast social a great time for everyone. A very special thanks to our guest speaker, the Hon. Kathryn McGarry, MPP for Cambridge who spoke passionately of the progress being made in Ontario and the work still being done to make our province a better place for all of us. The details of the next community forum being hosted by a Commission Club (taking place August 16th) were also shared at this breakfast, along with our next Commission Clubs Day of Action on August 26th. Stayed tuned for details to be posted here at this website soon!
Another great day! First at the doors with many volunteers having great discussions about the Trudeau government and then a great time was had by all at the Brantford Muslim Association Summer Picnic! Thanks to all involved!
To all those that helped with the very successful Sip 'N' Sing Iced Coffee House... THANK YOU! Attendance was great... support was fantastic... and performers were phenomenal! This was the third Sip 'N' Sing Coffee House organized by one of our local Liberal Commission Clubs in the last year and the most successful yet! We had a packed house (including many who were attending their first Liberal event), raised a substantial amount for the Margaret Campbell Fund (which will help support electing more female Liberal candidates in Ontario) and enjoyed and showcased some amazing talent! We had impressive local performers that included highland dancing, barbershop quartet, solo singers, wind instruments, acoustic guitar, indigenous folk music, Broadway musical numbers, along with some great jazz from Kitchener's Tim Louis (who was also supporting our event as the LPC(O) Southwest Region President).
Another great crowd at our July 8th breakfast social! Thank you to all who attended and a very special thanks to our guest speaker, Jeff Burnham, who gave a very informative talk on the need for greater support for libraries in Indigenous communities and the importance of supporting this cause.
We had a wonderful time celebrating Canada Day 150! Thank you to the over 10 volunteers who helped out at our Commission Clubs booth and the hundreds who came by our booth for great discussions! We gained many new supporters and volunteers who we look forward to seeing again soon! Happy Canada Day to all!
Our Clubs are proud to support Brantford Pride! June 17 was a fantastic day to cap off Pride Week with the 6th Annual Pride walk and Pride in the Park! A great way to spend the latest Liberal Party National Day of Action! Thanks and congrats to all the organizers involved in this year's Pride! This was our 4th local community event in the last month where our Commission Clubs have had a booth (Six Nations Bread and Cheese Festival, Equity in Politics Conference and Springtime in Paris before today).
Thank you to the over a dozen local volunteers of all ages who helped out with our community outreach for our June 11th Afternoon of Action despite the incredible heat! We greatly appreciate all who went door to door and the many who still came out to our two call locations on a Sunday afternoon.
